What You Can Expect at a Morning Worship Service at Calvary

For some people going anywhere for the first time can be a bit nerve-racking. To help avoid any worries here's a quick summary of what you can expect at a 10:30 worship service at Calvary. First of all, you'll find we are a friendly group, so if you don't understand something please ask. We begin our service at 10:30 with a song or two usually. The words to these songs are displayed on a large screen. Then we have a short time of greeting where people wander around saying "Hi" to whomever they desire. Then the pastor reviews some upcoming events and any other pressing announcements followed by a time of prayer. Next, an offering is received. This is done by the passing of plates down the length of the pews. This offering is an opportunity for our regulars at Calvary to support the work we do here and around the world. Don't feel obligated to participate.

Next follows another time of worship. At times we will sing worship choruses, at other times it may be older (or newer) hymns and at other times we sing with a worship video. Most Sunday's also feature some special music and at times a dramatic skit which is designed to introduce the theme of the morning.

At around 11:00 the pastor brings a message from God's Word. He works hard to insure that the message is biblically accurate and culturally relevant. Everyone is encouraged to bring their Bibles and follow along. The pastor uses the New International Version but others use whatever version with which they are comfortable. The service normally ends around 11:30.

Our desire is that whether you are just looking into Christianity for the first time or have been a Christian for many years that you should be encouraged and inspired your time here. We hope that everyone will draw closer to God.

Since April 1, 2010
